Day trips- Full and Half Day Stream and River fishing for Trout
Trout season in Yosemite National Park opens the last Saturday in April and closes the 15th of November. There is year round trout fishing available on both the Tuolumne and Merced rivers outside the park with good fishing available even in midwinter. I check conditions daily and select trip destinations in order to locate the most productive fishing options. I talk with every each party prior to the trip so we can plan your day and do my best to meet your expectations. If there is any tactic or technique that you enjoy or want to learn, or a certain area you would like to fish just let me know. Half day trips are often in or below the Park boundary on the Merced river summer half day trips are often scheduled from mid afternoon until dark so you can fish dry flies during the evening hatches. Full day trips allow more time to get to the many remote areas in and surrounding the Park. Many of these areas do require some hiking but the untouched waters that we get to fish are worth the effort. High quality equipment and my local fly patterns are included.

1/2 Day: $300 for one person plus $50 for each additional angler. Trips are from 4 1⁄2 to 5 hours
Full Day: $400 plus $50 for each additional angler. Trips are from 8 to 10 hours

Learn to Fly Fish Trips
My goal for your first day on the water is to have fun and catch fish. I have been a certified casting instructor for 14 years and have taught hundreds of people the basics of fly rod trout fishing. But fishing the stream is always the best teacher and doing is the best way to learn, so after a brief casting lesson I like to get out on the water quickly and start fishing. The Yosemite area has miles of remote streams that are ideal fly fishing classrooms. These creeks are full of modest sized eager fish that are just right for a successful learning day. Your first day on the water will include one-on-one instruction in all the basic skills of locating, casting, and landing wild trout from a mountain stream. I make sure every beginner has lots of hands on opportunities to fish and has a great learning day. Small waters are the perfect place for learning fly fishing skills quickly but even experienced anglers will appreciate these pristine locations. High quality equipment and my local fly patterns are included.

1/2 Day: $300 for one person plus $50 for each additional angler. Trips are from 4 1⁄2 to 5 hours
Full Day: $400 for one person plus $50 for each additional angler. Trips are from 8 to 10 hours

Adventure Trips
If you’re an angler who enjoys venturing far away from any road, and likes your streams with no footprints this might be your kind of trip. Adventure trips go where the country and the fish are both wild and provide a chance to experience “the other Yosemite“. These trips are all custom and destinations change seasonally. If you’re a physically fit angler who is ok with earning your fishing with some sweat give me a call and we can talk about these unique trips.

Full Day: $400 plus $50 for each additional angler

Merced River Smallmouth Bass
These trips are a great option during the hot days of summer. The Merced below the park boundary contains good populations of these aggressive fish. Because the water is clean and clear fly fishers can expect opportunities to sight cast for smallmouth bass. These fish are rarely fished for on the Merced and these trips are one of my favorites. Smallies are scrappy hard fighting fish that eat flies eagerly and are a great warm weather fishing option. All equipment is included and these trips can be combined with evening trout fishing for all day trips.

1⁄2 Day: $300 plus $50 for each additional angler
